Descending from Sir John Stewart, this tartan is based around the lands of Bute, Arran and Cumbrae when they were made into a country by Robert III. Sir John was made hereditary sheriff to the lands, as set out in a Royal Charter of 1400.James Stewart was sheriff of Bute between 1445 and 1449.

These kilts are made from 8 yard mediumweight 13oz wool. They have a wide swing to the pleats with complimentary matching flashes made from the same weave of fabric. Fastened with three buckles our kilts are finished with a knife-edge and pleated to the seat.
