The Baird tartan uses a dark green and blue ground, crossed with bold purple and black overstripes, producing a bright and balanced pattern. It appears in Modern, Ancient, and Weathered versions, with colours ranging from strong to softly faded. The Bairds are an old Lowland family, known from medieval times and linked with Auchmedden in Aberdeenshire.
