A collab made in heaven…
A collab made in heaven…

At McCalls, we love working with all the talented creatives and amazing suppliers of Scotland. That’s why, when we were asked to join a photoshoot at Ballogie House in Aberdeenshire last September, we of course said yes!

With our lovely models playing the parts as the ‘I do’ squad, at McCalls we had to make the hard choice of what amazing tartan to dress our groom and his best man in…

Ultimately deciding on the Hunting Pride from our exclusive range inspired by the beauty and nature of Scotland, this was a perfect match for the colours of the bridesmaid dresses provided by bridal shop, Ivory Grace in Aberdeen. Mossy green and burnt orange became the lead words and soon our bridal model had her fittings too, getting all the help needed from the knowledgeable dressers at the boutique.

Like many brides, grooms across Scotland might also need a little extra guidance and help through the jungle of formalwear. That’s why McCalls are so happy to have been a leading supplier of Highlandwear for over 135 years, making kilt and trews wearers feel their best no matter the occasion.

For this photoshoot, we immediately knew we wanted to incorporate both styles and so our model acting as the groom was fitted for a handsome kilt in our Aberdeen city centre location. His best man got an accompanying look with smart trews in the same tartan. This is a great way of accentuating the leading man on his special day and have his groomsmen rock trews while he stands out in a kilt, or vice-versa.

But at McCalls we know an outfit is also all about the details and that’s why we loved working with floral designer Ange at Fauna Flower Folk, who created beautiful bouquets, boutonnieres and other arrangements. Meanwhile, our friends at the local sustainable jewellery brand Silverstory supplied the pearl pieces worn by our beautiful bride and bridesmaid.

Of course also needing some TLC pre-shoot, published makeup artist Marcia Wilkes made our models look picture perfect. Alongside hairstylist Chelsea Georgia, exciting looks were created and the results are stunning!
